Cedar Shingle and Clapboard Siding Services

Cedar has been used to cover house exteriors for over 100 years in the form of clapboards, shingle siding, and roofing shingle. Historically, the downfall of siding is paint, but the problem isn't the paint—it's the preparation. Clapboards and shingles are often painted/treated only on the visible side. The remaining untreated wood sides absorb moisture and swell, which causes the paint to peel.

Cedar Siding from Colonial Craftsmen is always pre-stained to the customer's color of choice. Clapboards are rolled so all sides are covered with either 1-2 coats of primer or stain, and shingles are dipped in 1-2 coats of stain. After installation, a finish coat of stain is applied. When properly installed and depending on the number of coats applied, factory warranties can range from 10 to 15 years.
